Gwen Florio is the author of the Lola Wicks crime series, called “gutsy” by the New York Times; as well as Silent Hearts (Atria), a standalone novel set in Afghanistan; and the Nora Best crime series (Severn House). The Truth of It All (Crooked Lane, 2021) launched a new series featuring public defender Julia Geary. Her debut novel, Montana, won a High Plains Book Award and the national Pinckley Prize and was a finalist for the International Thriller Award, Shamus Award and Silver Falchion Award. She lives in Missoula, Montana.

Maryann Lesert is a playwright and novelist whose work is inspired by the natural world. Her first novel, Base Ten (Feminist Press, 2009) featured an astrophysicist too long away from her stars. Threshold (2023) is based on Maryann’s boots-on-wellsites research and activism related to fracking in Michigan’s (her home state’s) forests.

Abigail Slater was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. She writes horror novels under the pen name N A Wright and cozy mysteries under the pen name Winona Sloan. In 2014, she won the Hot Key Books’ Young Writer’s Prize. In 2019, she graduated from UAA with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.

Lisanne Sartor is an award-winning writer/director whose short films have screened at hundreds of worldwide festivals. She was a DGA assistant director for seven years. She is an alumna of the AFI Directing Workshop for Women and the WGA Feature Writers Access Project, as well as Yaddo, Hedgebrook and Storyknife residencies. Lisanne has a UCLA Screenwriting MFA, has had an original screenplay air on Lifetime, worked with numerous production companies and taught screenwriting at UCLA, Stephens College, the Disney Launchpad Shorts Incubator and the AFI DWW. Lisanne is also Board President and Director of Mentorship for The CineStory Foundation (www.cinestory.org), a screenwriting education non-profit.

Nancy Hernandez is an emerging writer whose work often centers around environmental topics and themes. Although poetry is her preferred medium, she also writes and edits pieces of nonfiction, and is currently working on a children’s book about an endangered bird species in California, her home state. Storyknife is her first residency.

Stacie Evans is a multi-genre writer. She is currently working on a collection of essays and a comics project. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, and her writing has appeared in New South, Bitch Magazine, The Rumpus, and Bellingham Review. She writes online at “if you want kin, you must plant kin …”
