Live from Storyknife is a monthly reading series featuring the guest residents of the Storyknife Writers Retreat.
As a survivor of the Columbine High School shooting, Krista Hanley (she/her) has turned her trauma into authentic advocacy. Her creative nonfiction writing has appeared in publications including the Los Angeles Times, the Coil Magazine, and Memoir Magazine. Her forthcoming memoir is focused on finding hope after surviving a mass shooting. kristahanley.com
Jane Kalu studies Creative Writing and Literature at the University of Southern California. Her short fiction has been featured or is forthcoming in American Short Fiction, Boston Review, The Hopkins Review, Isele Magazine, Munyori Journal, and elsewhere. Jane is a graduate of the MFA program at the University of New Mexico, where she was the recipient of the Joseph Badal Prize and the Hillerman/McGarrity Prize.
Guarina Lopez is from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Tucson, Arizona, and currently resides on the ancestral lands of the Piscataway and Nacotchtank in Washington, D.C. Guarina is a visual artist, storyteller, athlete, mother and founder of Native Women Ride. She is the director of Running is Prayer and CARLISLE 200.
Lee Ann Roripaugh (she/they) is a biracial Nisei, and the author of five volumes of poetry (most recently Tsunami vs. the Fukushima 50, Milkweed Editions, 2019), a chapbook (#stringofbeads, Diode Editions, 2023), and a collection of short stories (Reveal Codes, forthcoming from Moon City Press in late 2023).
Tania Pleitez Vela was born in El Salvador, and she currently lives in northern Italy. Her poetry has appeared in Latin American, Spanish, and American literary journals. She is the author of Nostalgia del presente [Nostalgia for the Present], Preguerra / Prewar (bilingual edition), and Semillas desterradas [Banished Seeds].
Taté Walker is a Lakota citizen of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. They are an award-winning Two Spirit storyteller for magazine outlets, news publications, and anthologies.
