This mini-course is designed for emerging to intermediate level poets, however established poets are also welcome. Each class will focus on one or two poetic skills. Students will be expected to practice these during the week until the next meeting.
What, where, when how and why. Writers will also be introduced to what a poem is, where to get ideas, when are the best time(s) to write, how to recognize a poem, how to start a poem, and why we write poetry.
The month-long course will culminate in a Zoom student poetry reading open to invited guests (and possibly public). This event is voluntary as students are not obligated to read their work.
What you will need: Access to internet, a computer or smart phone for Zoom, a notebook or journal. (Unless you use a laptop or smartphone to take notes, then that’s okay too).
