Announcing the 3rd Annual Fundraiser
Featuring Special Guest Tom Kizzia

Sunday, April 3, 2022
2:00 PM – 4:30 PM
At the Home of Barbara Hood & Dirk Sisson, Anchorage

Join fellow writers for an afternoon of literature and camaraderie, Alaskan style, in support of 49 Writers! Acclaimed author Tom Kizzia will read from his collection of works and share his perspectives on the writing life in an event that’s not to be missed. Each participant will receive a copy of Tom’s latest book, Cold Mountain Path, and a 49 Writers travel mug, both hot off the press. Space is very limited so sign up soon!

Bio: Tom Kizzia is the author of Cold Mountain Path, the new history of the ghost town decades in McCarthy-Kennecott. He wrote the 2013 bestseller Pilgrim’s Wilderness, chosen by the New York Times as the best true crime book set in Alaska, and the village travel narrative The Wake of the Unseen Object, recently re-issued in the Alaska classics series of the University of Alaska Press. He traveled widely in rural Alaska during a 25-year career as a reporter for the Anchorage Daily News. His journalism has appeared in The New Yorker, The Washington Post, the Columbia Journalism Review, and in Best American Science and Nature Writing 2017. He received an Artist Fellowship from the Rasmuson Foundation and was a Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University. A graduate of Hampshire College, he lives in Homer, and has a place in the Wrangell Mountains outside McCarthy.

To protect the safety of all concerned during the Spring 2022 season, 49 Writers will require all participants in our in-person programming to (1) provide proof of vaccination; (2) social distance; and (3) wear masks indoors. Thank you for your cooperation.
