About Mary Odden: Mary Odden has lived in roadless and rural Alaska places, working as a wildfire and aviation dispatcher, teen counselor, writing teacher, and small newspaper owner. Odden’s book of memoir/essays, Mostly Water: Reflections Rural and North, was published in June 2020 by Boreal Books/Red Hen Press. Upcountry Cranberry, 2024, is a collection of lingonberry recipes, with poems and stories, celebrating the gifts of Alaska’s woods. She has a perpetual novel on the boards, incorporating environmental and historical voices, a lot of food, a few tunes, and stories from unlikely neighbors.

About Upcountry Cranberry: In this collection of 44 recipes, accompanied by poems and stories, illustrated with more than 80 photos from kitchen and forest, Mary Odden and Kari Odden chronicle their love of one of the north’s most important and delicious natural foods, the wild lingonberry.

Cancellation & Refund Policy: If the event or class is cancelled for reasons beyond 49 Writers’s control, all fees will be refunded in full. In the event that an attendee is unable to attend for personal reasons, fees are nonrefundable.
