Celebrate the holiday season, connect with other members of the literary community, and enjoy an afternoon with Brendan Isaac Jones, acclaimed author of Whispering Alaska, The Alaskan Laundry, and The Outside Passage. This year’s Winter Words fundraiser and gathering will be a cozy afternoon soiree featuring door prizes, food and wine, and a special reading and Q&A by Brendan. Attendees will also have the opportunity to have Brendan sign copies of their books. All proceeds will go towards supporting 49 Writers programs.

About Brendan Isaac Jones: Brendan Isaac Jones is a novelist, essayist, and journalist primarily interested in drawing attention to environmental issues concerning the Tongass rainforest in Alaska. He is the author, most recently, of the young adult novel Whispering Alaska and the novel The Alaskan Laundry, and his essays and works of literary journalism have appeared in The New York Times, The Smithsonian, The Huffington Post, Narrative Magazine, the Anchorage Daily News, and NPR. He is a graduate of Oxford University and Stanford University, where he was awarded a Stegner Fellowship in fiction, and is the recent recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship in Russia. In addition to teaching, he has also worked as a carpenter, sea cucumber deckhand, commercial fisherman, book-stacker in a library for the blind, and farmhand, among others.
Refund & Cancellation Policy: If the event or class is cancelled for reasons beyond 49 Writers’s control, all fees will be refunded in full. In the event that an attendee is unable to attend for personal reasons, fees are nonrefundable.
