Conversation with National Historian and Author H.W. Brands
March 20 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET WITH PULITZER PRIZE FINALIST HISTORIAN
49 Writers members and friends are invited to a “Conversation with national historian and author H.W. Brands” on March 20, 2025, from 4 – 5:30 pm at the A-Loft Hotel, 310 West 36th Avenue.
Brands is one of America’s most prolific and preeminent historians and the author of 30 books, including two that were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize. He is currently the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in history at the University of Texas, and publishes a regular column, A User’s Guide to History, on Substack.com.
Attendees will have the opportunity for an informal conversation with Brands on researching and writing both current and past historical events. This is your chance to ask questions of a renowned writer in a small informal setting. Writers and readers of all genres are encouraged to attend, since many of his lessons are universal themes.
Light snacks will be provided. This event is free and open to the public.
Brands’ visit to Alaska is part of the Alaska Historical Society’s Critical Issues Lecture Series designed to raise the level of civil discourse and show how history informs current issues. He will speak later that day at 7 pm at the Anchorage Museum, speaking on “America, The Next 250 Years.”
