Bio: ​Elyse Guttenberg is the recipient of an Alaska State Council on the Arts Individual Fellowship in Literature and an Artists Initiative Award. Her first novel, Sunder, Eclipse, and Seed, (Penguin, 1990) was shortlisted for best first novel by the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts. With Jean Anderson, she is the editor of Inroads, an Anthology of Writing by Alaska’s Fellowship Writers. Other novels include the Alaskan prehistory Summer Light (HarperCollins 1995; reprinted 2017) and its sequel Daughter of the Shaman (HarperCollins 1997; reprinted 2018). Her most recent novel is The Power We Share (2020). Shorter work appears in The Women’s Press Book of New Myth and Magic; Spaceships and Spells; Faces of Fantasy, About Place Journal, and other publications. Guttenberg lives in Fairbanks, in the home she and her husband built on twenty acres of discontinuous permafrost, bog and bounty. Read more at www.elyseguttenberg.com.
