A shout-out today to another blog stimulating conversations about an important topic: America’s wild places and species. Bill Sherwonit, a regular guest-poster here at 49 Writers, is featured author for a month (ending November 13), discussing ideas related to his book, Changing Paths: Travels and Meditations in Alaska’s Arctic Wilderness. This is a true online book discussion, with longer posts and thoughtful comments — an interesting project launched in spring 2011 under the name “America’s WILD READ,” sponsored by Friends of the National Conservation Training Center. Books featured before Sherwonit’s included Anthill, a novel by E.O. Wilson (the discussion of which includes several posts by Margaret Atwood– including the confession that the first novel she wrote as a 7-year-old child featured an ant as protagonist) and The Thunder Tree by Robert Michael Pyle.
