On May 14-17, the Kachemak Bay Writers’ Conference returns as an in-person event at the Kachemak Bay Campus. This is our 20th conference, and we’re excited to bring together the amazing Alaska writing community.
The 2022 keynote speaker is Jericho Brown, 2020 Pulitzer Prize winning poet, winner of the American book award, and finalist for the 2020 National Book Award. Joining Jericho are the incredible Victoria Chang, Christina Chiu, CMarie Fuhrman, Toni Jensen, T. Geronimo Johnson, editor Tynan Kogane, Marie Mutsuki Mockett, and literary agent Anjali Singh. Our closing speaker is Heather Lende, the new Alaska State Writer Laureate.
The conference will feature four days of craft classes, craft conversations, faculty readings, agent/editor meetings, and a participant reading. In addition, we’ll have some classes that are taught by local writers that take place out in the community so that participants can spend time in the richness of Homer.
The entire schedule is listed on the conference website where you can read all of the class descriptions and the bios of the conference instructors. We are very excited about the range of topics being covered with lots of options for those who write fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry.
Included with registration is access to recordings of the keynote, classes, and craft conversations for one month after the conference. If you cannot attend the conference, you can purchase access to the recordings for one month for $100. We hope that this will be an affordable option for those who cannot for any reason join us in Homer.
