Ordinary Wolves on its way to Obama!

Today Anchorage will be hosting what may be the biggest local Obama rally yet, and today I’m letting you know that by a wide margin, you chose Seth Kantner’s ORDINARY WOLVES as the book we’d like to send Obama. I bought an autographed hardcover copy (at Title Wave, of course) and my weekend to-do list includes asking Obama’s staff how best I can send it so that this lovely book makes it into Obama family hands. Wish me luck.

I also contacted Seth himself to tell him that readers once again gave his book a thumbs-up. I asked him if he had any additional message for the presidential candidate:

Seth’s answer: “Tell Obama nice job he’s doing with the family; I’d like my daughter (China, age 10) to meet his daughters–any time he can send them up to play hide and seek with caribou or pick salmon, or will send her down to learn what they do in the lower-forty-eight.”

In a recent APRN radio interview, Kantner talks about raising his daughter China and confesses, suprisingly, the ambivalence he has about writing in general.

That doesn’t stop him from getting the words down. I stumbled across these Orion Magazine dispatches which have been running all year and will continue on a bimonthly basis. Kantner is using the online journal of sorts to document climate change and globalization as it’s affecting his corner of Alaska. There are photos, too.
