Style, voice, theme, plot, characters, place, reveals, sentence structure–the tools of the trade fascinate me. I’m also a ‘new start’ junkie so as 2014 comes to a close, I’m looking through my rear view mirror to see what worked for me as a writer. Currently, my toolbox is chock full of 49 Writers products. I’ve taken courses, read the blog, followed several members (and the organization itself) on social media sites, attended the bi-monthly Juneau Writing Group meetings and joined a 49 Writers Fiction Critique Circle. When I think about the resources available to our every-growing group, I’m amazed at what we accomplish in any given year!
I started 2014 as a word dabbler (poems, essays, non-fiction articles) but I’m ending the year committed to one project and a serious writing practice. I know that my association with 49 Writers has helped me grow – and stay on track – as a writer. Looking forward to 2015, I’m excited about participating in even more courses, networking with emerging and published writers, and digging deeper into my own writing process.
